A Brief History

A Brief History of The Episcopal Church in Colorado
The Episcopal Church in Colorado spans the entire state, encompassing territory first inhabited by the Arapahoe, Cheyenne, Shoshone, and Ute peoples. Today the diocese comprises 95 worshiping congregations of all shapes and sizes, from small, rural and regional parishes, to mid-sized and large urban and suburban churches, and everything in between. The history of the Episcopal Church in Colorado both mirrors and is shaped by the development of the state of Colorado and the western United States. Tracing its beginnings to the days of the "Wild West" through the rapid social and technological changes of the present, the Episcopal Church in Colorado celebrates the diversity of people, theological perspectives, and liturgical approaches.
